Stars shine at the 32nd Genie Awards

TORONTO, Ont. – Philippe Falardeau’s tender tale “Monsieur Lazhar’ and David Cronenberg’s “A Dangerous Method” were the big winners at the 32nd annual Genie Awards.
The show was hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos and included presenters such as Gordon Pinsent, Jason Priestly, Sons of Anarchy’s Kim Coates, Fefe Dobson, and Adam Beach.
K’naan, the Sheepdogs and Johnny Reid performed during the show.
Comedian Andrea Martin was scheduled to co-host but had to back out at the last minute due to a scheduling conflict.
“Monsieur Lazhar” won six of the nine awards it was nominated for, including best picture and best director.
Viggo Mortensen won best supporting actor and Vanessa Paradis was awarded best actress for her performance in “Cafe de Flore.”
