Nesbitt third at World Cup speedskating event

BERLIN — Canada’s Christine Nesbitt won bronze in the women’s 500-metre race at the final World Cup speedskating event of the season.

Nesbitt finished 0.54 behind winner Yu Jing of China, who won in 37.63 seconds to claim the overall World Cup title.

Olympic champion Lee Sang-hwa of South Korea was second, 0.03 seconds behind.

Nesbitt finished 10th overall in the standings, while world champion Jenny Wolf of Germany finished fourth, ending the season in third.
