Source of robocalls may be revealed today, report says

MPs are optimistic after hearing Canadians may soon find out who Pierre Poutine is.

The fake name had been used by the person who bought a disposable cell phone that apparently made misleading robocalls to several ridings during the last election campaign.

Post Media reports the person behind the calls will turn themselves in to Elections Canada at some point Monday.

Conservatives, New Democrats and Liberals have said this is a big step forward.

Tory MP Tom Lukiwski believes this will prove Conservatives had nothing to do with this scandal.

“The opposition is trying to characterize our party as the villain in this whole case, which is absolutely non-sensical,” Lukiwski said.

But the NDP’s Glenn Thibeault said this investigation won’t end with just one person responsible.

“Makes you wonder – how does one person do all of this right across the country?,” Thibeault asked. “I think this will be a way to get to the bottom of it.”

They’re both happy the company that facilitated the calls has played a key role in pinpointing who Pierre Poutine is.

Both opposition parties have been calling for a public inquiry.
