No one seriously hurt in North York apartment fire

Dozens of people filed out of a North York apartment building Tuesday morning due to a basement fire.

The flames broke out around 1:30 a.m. at a building at 2 Forest Laneway, near Yonge and Sheppard — the scene of a fatal fire in 1995 that killed six people.

Tuesday morning’s fire sent smoke through the building and about 100 residents headed outside on their own. Firefighters allowed them back inside about an hour later.

One person was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. There’s no word yet on a cause.
