Toronto breaks weather record with 16.7 C

Toronto has unofficially broken a weather record, with a high of 16.7 C recorded at Pearson airport at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The record won’t be official until Environment Canada confirms it sometime after midnight.

The record of 15.9 C was set back on Dec. 4, 1998. The average temperature this time of year is just 3 C.

Wednesday will be sunny, but the mercury will drop to a much more seasonal high of 2 C with possible flurries in the city. 

It will be much of the same on Thursday, with a low of 0 C, a high of 2 C and sunshine in the forecast.
