Fire crews are working to douse a serious blaze at a home in Richmond Hill.

Richmond Hill fire responded to a call about a fire in a basement at 136 Boake Trail at around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Deputy Fire Chief Bryan Burbidge told CityNews the fire quickly spread to the home’s upper floors.

“It’s more of less under control at this point, the main floor has collapsed into the basement,” Burbidge said.

There are no reported injuries. Neighbouring homes were evacuated.

Crews are expected to be on site throughout the night and into Saturday.
