250,000 Twitter accounts hacked

Twitter has announced it has been hacked.

The social network said in a blog post Friday that approximately 250,000 user accounts have been compromised in a sophisticated attack.

The hackers gained access to data including user names and email addresses.

The attack is just the latest on a number of large sites, including the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

Affected Twitter users will get an email telling them to reset their passwords.
