Two charged after man shot in Regent Park

TORONTO, Ont. – A 21-year-old woman and 23-year-old man are facing a string of charges after a man was shot inside his Regent Park home Wednesday morning.

The 45-year-old man was located shortly before 7 a.m. at an Oak Street apartment complex near River Street and Gerrard Street. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Early Thursday, Toronto police and their Emergency Task Force executed a search warrant at a home in the Adelaide Street East and Parliament Street area.

Melissa Rowe and Bento Sebastian, both of Toronto, face several charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless use of a firearm.

A third person, Samuel Elvira, 19, of Toronto, was arrested for unrelated matters.

He is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, failure to comply with probation and careless storage of ammunition.
