At least four males were shot at a Whitby apartment early Thursday afternoon, Durham regional police say.
The shooting happened in several parts of an apartment building on White Oaks Court, near Dundas and Brock streets, around 12:30 p.m., Sgt. Nancy Van Rooy said.
A 19-year-old man who was airlifted to a Toronto hospital was listed in critical condition on Thursday night. Three other victims suffered non life-threatening injuries and were treated in hospital.
A fifth person walked into a hospital in Toronto’s east end with multiple gunshot wounds about half an hour after the shooting, Toronto police said. But Van Rooy couldn’t confirm if the injuries he sustained were from the Whitby shooting. Officers were going to the hospital to investigate, she said.
Van Rooy declined to provide further details about the shooting or information about the victims.
Police do not have any suspects and no arrests have been made. They have cordoned off the entire building and were canvassing the neighbourhood with canine units to collect evidence.
Van Rooy said police are following up on a number of leads and urged witnesses to contact police through Crime Stoppers.
