3 men charged in separate stunt-driving incidents

Toronto police have charged three men with stunt driving in separate incidents in the past two days.
Officers allege one man was clocked doing 188 km/h on the Gardiner Expressway, another was driving 144 km/h on the Don Valley Parkway and a third was doing 113 km/h on Lake Shore Boulevard.
Police saw a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta heading west on Lake Shore near Coronation Park Trail around 4 a.m. on Sunday.
The officer, using a speed-measuring device, said that the driver was doing 113 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
The 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with stunt driving (driving at a rate of speed 50 km/h or more over speed limit), impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over a blood-alcohol level over 80.
The driver’s licence was suspended seven days for the stunt driving and 90 days for the impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The vehicle has been impounded for a week.
In the DVP incident, a Pickering man, 22, was allegedly driving 144 km/h in a 90 km/h zone on Sunday morning. He was charged with stunt driving, speeding in a 90 km/h zone, driving while under suspension and refusing a breath sample.
The man’s licence was suspended for seven days for the stunt driving charge and 90 days for the charge of refusing a breath sample. His vehicle was impounded for seven days.
In the Gardiner incident, a police officer saw a 2003 Audi A4 heading west on the expressway at Islington Avenue around 2:05 a.m. on Monday.
The officer said the driver was doing 188 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
The officer arrested the 37-year-old man, who was charged with stunt driving and speeding.
The driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
Last year, Toronto police say they issued 381suspensions for speeding/stunt driving.
