Man killed in Hwy. 403 crash

A 40-year-old man is dead after a crash on a Highway 403 exit ramp early Sunday morning, the OPP confirms.

The man was driving on the eastbound ramp to Mavis Road in Mississauga around 5 a.m. when his car veered off the road and knocked over a trailer.

“He’s exited the ramp — excessive speed, according to witnesses — and has, instead of making the turn, gone straight off the roadway into the construction equipment,” said OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford.

Police say the victim may not have been wearing a seatbelt.

The ramp was closed for about four hours for the investigation.
