Halton cop wounded during firearms training

A Halton police officer was treated in hospital after a firearms training accident on Thursday afternoon.

The officer’s gun went off just after 2 p.m. at the Halton Regional Police headquarters in Oakville.

The officer was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound and is expected to recover.

The Ministry of Labour was notified but will not be investigating.

Police officers must go through firearms training every year.
