Ford announces traffic improvement plan

TORONTO – Toronto Mayor Rob Ford announced on Tuesday that there is a plan to improve flow of Toronto traffic at more than 1,000 intersections, implementing traffic signal coordination.
The multi-million dollar investment in the computer systems will affect 1,000 intersections.
The transportation plan calls for a $7.4-million investment this year, and a $10.9-million one for 2014.
This year, the city plans to re-time approximately 270 signals along Kingston Road, Weston Road, Keele Street, Parkside Drive and Lawrence Avenue East and Lawrence Avenue West.
The full Toronto city council is meeting Tuesday and Wednesday.
