Norm Kelly appointed Toronto deputy mayor

Mayor Rob Ford has announced that he has appointed Coun. Norm Kelly his new deputy mayor.

On Twitter the mayor said he is honoured to have someone with Kelly’s experience and enthusiasm as his new deputy mayor.

Earlier this month Ford stated that the Ward 40 councillor was his pick to replace Doug Holyday but the official announcement wasn’t made until Monday.

Holyday won the Liberal stronghold of Etobicoke-Lakeshore in a dogfight against Liberal candidate Peter Milczyn in a provincial byelections on Aug. 1.

Ford has said that he favours a byelection over an appointment to replace Holyday as city councillor.
