Toronto Star reporter Robyn Doolittle appears on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’

Toronto Star reporter Robyn Doolittle appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday to promote her new book, Crazy Town: The Rob Ford Story.

The scandal-plagued mayor remains a hot topic for U.S. media, with Meyers joking that if any of American politicians faced similar allegations, they would resign in shame.

Doolittle responded that Ford’s behaviour has been called “the death of shame.”

“To me, people leave office because they don’t want to come to work every day and be asked embarrassing questions,” she told Meyers.

“When Rob Ford comes in, we say, ‘were you drunk driving last night?’ ‘Do you still smoke crack?’ ‘Did you have a prostitute in your office as police documents allege?’ Which he denies. I mean, he just is happy coming to work and answering these questions or not answering these questions. Some have called it ‘the death of shame.'”

Doolittle is one of three journalists to view the infamous crack video that kicked off a series of scandals for the mayor last spring.

Her book goes into detail about Ford’s family history, his run for mayor, and his drug use.

Crazy Town: The Rob Ford Story is No. 2 on Canada’s non-fiction bestseller list (behind Chris Hadfield’s An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth) and Doolittle has sold the film and television rights to Blue Ice Pictures.
