Stuckless denies luring victims with Leafs tickets, memorabilia

Convicted child molester Gordon Stuckless denied in court Thursday that he gave his young victims Leafs tickets and hockey memorabilia while he worked at Maple Leaf Gardens.

Stuckless, who was convicted of abusing boys when he was a Gardens usher as early as 1968, pleaded guilty in April to 100 new charges related to the sexual abuse of 18 underage boys decades ago.

But he pleaded not guilty to another eight charges involving three of those victims. He now is on trial in Toronto on those charges, which include buggery, assault and gross indecency.

Stuckless said he gave the boys “perhaps a movie, or a bag of chips.”

When asked by the Crown how he managed to get away with molesting boys for decades, he replied: “I don’t know why they didn’t speak up. When I was abused I was getting rewards.”

On Wednesday Stuckless told the court that he was molested as a child, by two different men.

One of his victims told CityNews on Thursday that Stuckless was a master manipulator.

“As a victim I will tell you that Mr. Gordon Stuckless had great ways to make it that you shouldn’t ever tell,” said Allan Donnan.

“There are many things that Mr. Stuckless used as an adult that to an 11,12,13, 14-year-old child that made a huge difference in whether they said something or not.”
