Petition calls for Brampton park to be named after Neville-Lake family

Over 2,700 people want Brampton to name a park after Gary Neville-Lake and his three grandchildren, Daniel, Harry, and Milly.

Denis Langlois started a petition on change.org five days ago, calling on the City of Brampton to name a park after the four victims to ensure they are never forgotten.

“Not only is it important to remember these precious children and their grandfather,” Langlois writes. “But it is also vital that we never forget the tragic consequences of drinking driving.”

The description online suggests the park include a small memorial, including a bench with a small plaque, “where people can sit and reflect on these lives lost and remember.”

Nine-year-old Daniel, 5-year-old Harry, 2-year-old Milly and their 65-year-old grandfather were killed when a drunk driver crashed into their mini-van in Vaughn last September.

Twenty-nine-year-old Marco Muzzo was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to causing the crash.

“We name parks after developers so we can remember their contributions to a community. We should also name a park after the Neville-Lake family, so we never forget their names,” the petition reads. “Remembering could save lives in the future.”
