Bombardier rejects Ottawa’s initial investment proposal: report

By News staff

Bombardier is rejecting the federal government’s initial investment proposal, Bloomberg reports, as the two sides remain at odds over corporate governance and other issues.

Ottawa is apparently looking for a better deal than the one Bombardier made with the Quebec government to support the C-series program.

Bloomberg also reports that an aid deal before Bombardier’s annual meeting on April 29 is “unlikely.”

The Bloomberg report comes with Delta Airlines reportedly close to a purchase agreement for up to 125 of Bombardier’s C-series jets.

The C-series is Bombardier’s new generation of aircraft for commercial airlines, in development for more than a decade as an alternative to smaller models of passenger jets built by rivals Boeing and Airbus.
