Biker gang ties suspected in fatal King West shooting: source

By News Staff

A brazen daytime shooting on King Street West that left a motorcyclist dead may have ties to biker gangs.

A police source told 680 NEWS the victim is the son of a prominent biker gang member and that this may have been a targeted hit.

The shooting happened in a condo garage at King Street and Strachan Avenue around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.

It appears the victim was ambushed as he was either getting on or off his BMW motorcycle in the underground garage.

Initially, police thought they were responding to a single-vehicle crash. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene. One person told CityNews they heard as many as five shots.

John Ignagni, 33, of Toronto, was killed, police said Monday.

Police are looking for a white man who left the scene on a bicycle, wearing a dark helmet. He is a person of interest, and not a suspect.

Police had sealed off the entrance to the underground garage, which is shared by two buildings, and no one was allowed in or out of either building while police investigated.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
