Suspect arrested, 2nd sought, in brazen Rexdale shooting

Toronto police have arrested one man and are still searching for another after a brazen shooting in Rexdale last summer.

The shooting happened at around 9:15 a.m. on June 1 in a parking lot at 15 Pittsboro Dr., in the Finch Avenue West and Martin Grove Road area.

Tracey Leigh, the mother of the victim, said at the time that she had just finished speaking to her son on the phone when she heard a volley of gunshots ring out.

Nathan Leigh was not killed, but police said at the time the shooting was targeted.

Ibrahim Abdikarim, 23, of Toronto, was arrested on March 8. He has been charged with attempted murder, discharging a firearm with intent to wound and endanger life, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.

Police are still looking for Shamaury White, now 22, who is to be considered armed and dangerous.
