A dog that would not stop attacking its owner was shot and killed by Barrie police on Saturday afternoon.
Police were called to a funeral home parking lot shortly after 3 p.m. where a woman was being attacked by her own dog.
Police say the dog was “repetitively and viciously biting both the arms of the victim.”
The dog would not heed voice commands and police could not distract it.
As they were unsuccessful in their attempts to subdue the dog, multiple shots were fired. The dog died at the scene.
The woman was rushed to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the dog attack.
