Woman seriously injured in Highway 401 crash

By News Staff

A woman in her 30s suffered life-threatening injuries in one of two serious crashes on Highway 401 early Sunday morning.

The westbound collector lanes near Renforth were completely closed just before 2:30 a.m. after a three car crash left one woman trapped in the back seat of a car.

Reports indicated she was without vital signs as emergency crews responded. She was taken to a nearby trauma centre.

The driver of the second vehicle was not seriously injured.

Police and emergency services were already in the area after another incident about two hours earlier.

A 26-year-old man from Etobicoke is facing impaired driving charges after a two vehicle crash.

The occupants in the other vehicle suffered only minor injuries.
