Police seize guns, drugs during series of GTA raids

By News Staff

Durham regional police have taken four handguns off the streets and seized more than $34,000 in cash and drugs after executing a series of raids early Friday morning.

The raids, two in Toronto and one in York Region, came after a month-long investigation by the Gun and Gang Unit that focused on three people believed to be dealing drugs in the Toronto area.

Toronto, York and Durham tactical units all assisted in the searches.

Police say they seized two handguns, ammunition, cocaine, heroin, and around $10,000 cash from a residence on Wingarden Court in Toronto. A vehicle was also seized.

Handguns and ammunition were also seized from residences on Stargell Crescent in Markham and Brandstone Square in Toronto.

Two Toronto residents — Meshach Bonnie, 25, and Isaiah Powell, 21 — and Stevie Squires, 25, of Markham, all face a slew of drug and weapons charges.
