Man dead after crashing vehicle into pole in Uxbridge

Durham regional police say they believe speed and alcohol may be factors in a fatal crash in Uxbridge.

The single-vehicle collision happened on Toronto Street near Campbell Drive, south of Brock Street, just after midnight on Thursday.

Police say the driver, a 45-year-old man, lost control of the vehicle and crashed it into a pole.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported.
