Hamilton’s Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting with connections to organized crime at a home in Ancaster.
The shooting happened around 10 p.m. Thursday on Sunflower Crescent, near Highway 403 and Mohawk Road.
Police said the victim, 50-year-old Albert Iavarone, was pronounced dead at the scene.
They say the suspect hid in the bushes for an extended period of time before approaching the victim and shooting at him as he was returning home.
Neighbours reported hearing several gunshots and then saw a vehicle speeding away from the scene.
The Hamilton police department confirmed the victim had connections with ” traditional organized crime”, although he had no criminal record.
