Police say a 28-year-old man is in custody after a number of cars were vandalized in a Leslieville neighbourhood.

Several residents on Winnifred Avenue between Eastern Avenue and Queen Street East awoke Friday morning to find the tires on their cars had been slashed.

This isn’t the first time this neighbourhood has been vandalized. Police say they’ve received 60 reports of damage to vehicles since July.

A photo of the suspect was released and late Friday evening, and police later confirmed they had a male in custody.

Ahmad Zafar of Toronto appeared in court on Saturday morning, charged with 78 counts of mischief/damage to property.
