Man facing new charges in fatal Oakville crash into Lake Ontario

A man charged with impaired driving after a car crashed into Lake Ontario, killing a passenger in the vehicle, is facing more charges.

Halton police were alerted to the crash in the area of Maple Grove Drive and Lakeshore Road East early in the morning on Nov. 5 after receiving a report of a person knocking on doors.

The body of a 27-year-old man was later found on a shoreline nearby several hours later. The victim has yet to be identified.

Investigation into the crash revealed the car slammed through a guard rail in Oakville and landed in the water.

Aaron Dobbs, 22 of Welland was charged with impaired driving causing death and and refusing to provide a breath sample at the time.

After a further investigation, police have laid charges of dangerous driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death.

Dobbs turned himself in and was released with a promise to appear.
