GO Transit will soon start running morning and evening trains on weekdays between Toronto and Niagara Falls.

Beginning on Jan. 7, 2019, the Lakeshore West train that used to depart from West Harbour Station in Hamilton will leave Niagara Falls at 5:19 a.m. and stop in St. Catharines before continuing to Union Station.

In the evening, the train leaving Union Station at 5:15 p.m. will continue past Hamilton and stop in both St. Catharines and Niagara Falls.

At the announcement in St. Catharines on Friday, Transportation Minister Jeff Yurek said the government is working with CN to use existing rail lines for the expanded service.

He said the service is launching four years ahead of schedule.
