Medical emergency on Prince Edward Viaduct led to major rush hour delays

By News Staff

A medical emergency on the Prince Edward Viaduct shut down part of the Don Valley Parkway and halted subway service Friday afternoon, leading to major delays for the commute home.

“We are very pleased to say the medical situation on the Prince Edward Viaduct has been successfully resolved with no injuries to anyone involved, including First Responders,” police said on Twitter around 7 p.m. “To all who were affected by this extended closure, we would like to thank you all very much for your patience and understanding.”

The Don Valley Parkway was closed in both directions from the Gardiner Expressway to Bayview/Bloor, just before 5 p.m. The closure lasted more than two hours.

Subway service between Broadview and St. George stations was also impacted during the closure. Regular service resumed around 7 p.m.
