Police have arrested a 37-year-old Mississauga man in connection with a hit-and-run death on Wednesday.

Rafaela Piedrasanta, 75, of Mississauga was walking from the south side of Elia Avenue to the north side of the street at Sorrento Drive when she was struck by a white truck that was turning right just after 5 p.m.

Paramedics transported the woman to hospital without vital signs, where she died of her injuries.

The driver failed to remain on the scene but through video surveillance in the area, they identified the vehicle as a white 2018 Ford pick-up truck with four doors and a white Leer cap on the box.

Thursday afternoon, police said the vehicle had been found and taken to the Centre of Forensic Science for processing.

Late Thursday night, 37-year-old Seyenthan Sivakumaran was arrested and charged with failure to stop at a scene of an accident causing death.

Police say this is the fourth fail-to-remain collision of 2019.
