Female suffers serious injuries in Rexdale shooting

A female has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a shooting early Monday morning in Rexdale.

Officers were called to Martin Grove Road near John Garland Boulevard just before 1 a.m.

Toronto police tell 680 NEWS, the female victim, possibly around 18 years old, was waiting for a cab with friends when a dark Nissan-type vehicle with four occupants pulled up next to them.

When the woman began walking away, someone in the car shot at her, striking her in the leg. She was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

No suspect information has been released at this time. Anyone who might have witnessed the shooting is asked to call police.
