Man dies after being stabbed near Yonge and Bloor

Police have identified a man killed following a stabbing near Yonge and Bloor streets in the early Saturday morning.

Toronto said they responded to a call for a medical complaint near the intersection of Yonge and Charles streets around 12:14 a.m.

Police said James Andrew Smith, 52, of Toronto was standing outside a building at 730 Yonge Street around 12:14 a.m. when he was attacked by a male suspect who fled the scene on foot.

Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital in life-threatening condition where he later died from his injuries.

Police have not released any suspect information at this time and cannot say if the suspect and the victim were known to each other.
