Toronto Raptors Head Coach Nick Nurse says the Raptors have been invited to Parliament Hill following their NBA Championship.
The Raptors beat the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals in Game 6.
It’s the first time an NBA team north of the border has won the title and all previous champions have been invited to the White House.
Nurse said he has yet to hear from the White House and when asked on the 590 The Fan’s Prime Time Sports whether he would go if invited, he said, “You know, we’re here. Let’s go see Trudeau up in Ottawa. We’re Canada’s team.”
He adds he has been in contact with officials at 24 Sussex Drive about scheduling the visit, but no details have been worked out.
The Blue Jays’ in 1992 went to both the White House and Parliament Hill while the team only went to Ottawa after their 1993 championship.
