Controlled detonation in Tommy Thompson Park after explosives found

Toronto Police’s bomb squad conducted a controlled detonation after explosive materials were found in East York.
The materials were located in a storage unit on Bermondsey Road in East York.
The explosives are being taken to Tommy Thompson Park nearby for safe disposal so those in the area may hear a loud bang.
The detonation took place at the furthest point, which is not accessible to the public.
Police say there is no risk to public safety and the discovery of the materials is not considered a criminal matter.
