Toronto police say a man has been arrested in connection to a triple shooting that left two emerging artists dead last summer.

Jahvante Smart, 21, known as Smoke Dawg and Ernest Modekwe, 28, known as Koba Prime, were shot outside the Cube nightclub at Queen and Peter streets around 8 p.m. on June 30, 2018.

The two men were taken to hospital in critical condition. One victim was pronounced dead that same night while the second victim succumbed to his injuries on Canada Day.

Police said a woman in her 30s was also shot in the same incident. She was seriously injured but survived.

A warrant was issued for 22-year-old Abdulkadir Handule, of Toronto, and police say he was arrested in Burnaby, B.C., last month on unrelated charges and turned over to police in Toronto.

Investigators say they’re still looking for another suspect who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Smart released his first single in 2015 and was on rapper Drake’s Boy Meets World tour and Modekwe was the brand manager for a hip-hop collective called Prime.
