Man dies after assault in Downsview

Homicide is investigating after a 36-year-old man died following an assault in Downsview.

Emergency crews were called to a parkette on the north side of Wilson Avenue, just east of Jane Street, around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday after reports of two people involved in an altercation.

When police arrived on scene they found the man suffering life-threatening injuries. Police said the victim died on the way to hospital.

Police said several people called 911 to report another wounded person walking further east on Wilson.

Officers were able to find the male and he was taken into custody.
