Toronto police ID victim, suspect in deadly machete attack

Toronto police released the name of the victim in Wednesday’s deadly machete attack in the city’s east end.
Tharshika Jeganathan, 27, of Toronto, died after allegedly being attacked by a man with a machete on Fishery Road, near Ellesmere and Collins Road.
Investigators said the victim and suspect knew each other and had a “previous domestic relationship.”
Police said the suspect drove to 42 Division and turned himself in shortly after the incident. There are no other suspects being sought.
Sasikaran Thanapalasingam, 38, of Toronto, has been charged with first-degree murder, police said.
He appeared in court on Thursday.
