Police say one woman in her 50s was taken to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition while four others also suffered serious injuries.
The youngest person that was shot was 13 years old. A 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds also suffered gunshot wounds as well. All four of them are in non-life-threatening condition.
Police Chief Chris McCord said they have not determined whether the shooting was targeted.
McCord adds there were multiple suspects armed with semi-automatic weapons and a lot of rounds were fired during the incident. A witness tells 680 NEWS they heard at least 20 gunshots.
They have not identified the suspects at this time and have yet to make any arrests. He did say they don’t believe the suspects are still in the area as an extensive search was conducted, but they still have a genuine concern for public safety.

There were reports a music video was being shot in the area where the shooting occurred. Chief McCord said, “At this stage we have information that a music video was being shot, but whether it’s connected to that, I don’t know at this stage.”
While the shooting is believed to have occurred outside, investigators have cleared the building “as a precaution to ensure there are no further victims.”
Officers are warning area residents there will be a heavy police presence for several hours due to the incident.
Cst. Iryna Yashnyk added, “We have over 70 units on scene, as well as our forensic units, tactical units and K-9 units. But, at this point, stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.”
