Richmond Hill condominium unit severely damaged in fire

No serious injuries following a fire in a condominium unit in Richmond Hill Friday night.

A Richmond Hill condominium unit suffered major damage in a fire Friday evening.

The Richmond Hill Fire Department said they were called to a condominium building on 30 Harding Blvd at around 5:45 p.m

The fire was contained to a single unit on the fourth floor and was quickly extinguished by crews.

Two residents were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor smoke inhalation.

A firefighter was also treated for a minor leg injury.

York Region Transit VIVA buses were brought to the scene to provide temporary shelter, the fire department said.

The unit’s owner was home at the time and was the person who called 911, fire said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
