Peel Regional Police say they have charged a man in connection to a dramatic vehicle crash caught on video in Brampton on Wednesday.

The collision, which was captured on a nearby CCTV camera and circulated on social media, showed a vehicle hitting a curb, then being catapulted into the air.  The vehicle also appeared to spin, then crash. Vehicle parts and other debris could be seen flying off the car as it slid to a stop.

Police said the incident occurred in the Commodore Drive area at around 1:47 p.m.

Investigators said a vehicle was driving eastbound on Williams Parkway Drive near Valleyway Drive when the driver lost control.

“The car hit the curb of the right lane, catapulting over the fence that separates Commodore Drive from Williams Parkway,” police said in a news release. “Once over the fence, the vehicle hit a tree and then hit a parked car. The car finally stopped and landing a few meters away from a residence.”

Police allege the driver was operating the vehicle in a dangerous manner, which they say resulted in the crash.

The driver, 28, from Wasaga Beach, Ont., was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.  Police said he has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Police said he will appear in court in September.
