Police make arrest in George Street homicide

A man is facing a charge of second-degree murder after an investigation into a fatal assault in downtown Toronto last month.

Police were called to 291 George Street on July 9, 2020, for reports of an injured man.

Upon arrival police and paramedics found a man who was complaining of torso pain.

He was taken to hospital where he later died of injuries determined to be from blunt force trauma.

The victim was identified as Daniel Carmichael, 42, of Toronto.

Police say Alan Smith, 37, of Toronto, has been charged with second-degree murder.
