Unsung Hero: Sameer Dhawan

By Fil Martino

53 year old father of one Sameer Dhawan is the retailer for six Petro Canada stations in Etobicoke and Mississauga. During the COVID-19 pandemic he has led by example, joining his employees on the front lines.

Dhawan and his 50 staff members have done extensive charity work during these difficult times, donating their time and money. They have provided daily grocery hampers for 45 families in need through Forest Glenn Public School, and supported both the Daily Bread Food Bank and Community Food Centre in Toronto with five thousand dollars of dry groceries.

Their team also donated one thousand dollars worth of groceries to Precious Blood Catholic School through the rotary club and provided thank-you baskets to EMS workers at the dispatch center in Toronto.

Dhawan also has a random acts of kindness program for front line workers that come to his gas bars, offering free fuel and goodies.

But don’t call him a hero.

Dhawan says his employees are the true heroes because they have been working day and night in this pandemic with smiles on their faces.
