14 people fined for large parties in Scarborough, police say

The mayor of Toronto made it clear that Torontonians have been given plenty of opportunity to get used to our new normal. Says it's now time for enforcement.

14 people have been fined under the Reopening Ontario Act after large parties were held in Scarborough on Tuesday night.

Police say they were called to a house for a “noisy party” at the area of Kingston Road and St. Clair Avenue East.

Deputy Chief, Peter Yuen, says 14 people each wound up getting a ticket worth 880 dollars.

“Like I said before, we’re passed the education phase. We have investigated and laid charges against individuals for violating the legislation,” Yuen said.

Officers are reminding people to keep house parties under control and to follow social gathering limits.

Under the province’s COVID-19 restrictions, 10 people are allowed indoors and 25 people outdoors.
