Two people were shot in the Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue West area Saturday evening, police said.
Police said they were called at around 6:24 p.m. for a report of a shooting.
Initial reports said up to three people had been shot, but police later said at around 8:20 p.m. there were only two shooting victims.
One victim was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound and is listed as being in critical condition. A second person was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to the legs, police said.
Police said when patrol officers arrived in the area, they spotted people fleeing the scene.
“Our officers engaged one of the suspects in a foot chase and later they engaged a motor vehicle that was leaving the scene in a vehicle pursuit,” said. Insp. Jim Gottel. “That pursuit ended about 600 metres away from here when it struck another police car.”
Two people were arrested at the scene, he added.
Four firearms and approximately 27 gun shell casings were also found in the area, police said.
The Emergency Task Force (ETF) was deployed to the area to locate a potential third suspect in a nearby home. It was later determined the house was clear, police said.
