Employee at IKEA North York tests positive for COVID-19

One of the city’s IKEA locations says an employee recently tested positive for COVID-19.
A spokesperson at IKEA North York confirms with 680 NEWS the employee in question tested positive last Thursday, September 24 with their last shift at the store coming on September 20.
“The safety of IKEA co-workers and customers is our top priority and we are taking extensive precautionary measures to reduce any risk of exposure, always following the guidelines of Toronto Public Health,” they said.
“Our store underwent a thorough deep clean and has since reopened to the public. We are supporting our co-worker to ensure they have everything they need and hope for their full recovery soon.”
This is the first known COVID-19 case at one of the few IKEA Toronto locations.
