Arson suspected after 11 cars catch fire at 4 Thornhill businesses

Police in York Region are investigating a possible case of arson after several suspicious vehicle fires overnight in Thornhill.

Emergency crews were called to Cedar Avenue, in the Yonge Street and Langstaff Road area, just after 4 a.m. Monday for a report of multiple vehicles on fire.

When officers arrived they found multiple vehicles on fire at four different business on the same street.

Homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

The fires have since been put out and no injuries were reported.

Police believe 11 vehicles were set on fire intentionally and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incidents or have information on the fires, to contact authorities.
