Pumpkin spice KD is here, with mixed reviews

By Geoff Rohoman

It’s nothing new that pumpkin spice stuff is all the rage.

Drinks…desserts…scented candles.

And now, Pumpkin Spice Kraft Dinner, something no one asked for.

Over 50,000 people signed up, hoping to get one of 1,000 boxes made available to Canadians.

It includes a box of traditional KD, a pumpkin spice flavour packet, a blue KD fork, and a Starbucks-like cup to put your noodles in.

Simon Bennett’s pumpkin spiced KD Starbucks-style cup has his name spelled wrong on purpose.

So, despite no one asking for it, and social media deciding it’s not going to taste good, before trying it, the good people at Kraft Dinner Canada sent samples to Simon Bennett and myself.

The final touch: our names spelled completely wrong (I was “Jeff” and Simon Bennett was “Simrone”).

It’s simple – you make a box of KD like you normally would – but at the end, you add in the extra packet of flavouring, the pumpkin spice package.

It doesn’t change the look of the KD, in fact appearance wise, this was probably the best-looking pot I had ever made (it’s amazing what actually measuring the butter and milk does for recipes).

As for the taste – not good. But I’m not a pumpkin spice guy. I don’t really like it. Simon didn’t think it was bad (but he also forgot to put the cheese package in and only used the pumpkin spice one… D’oh!).

It’s the same KD we know, except instead of tasting cheesy goodness. it tastes like pie.

To each their own, I guess.
