Toronto city council tables motion to make Santa an essential worker

We called for it last week and today we might get an answer. Will Santa be declared an essential worker in the GTA?

Our Geoff Rohoman reached out to both the Prime Minister and Premier last week and was told an announcement on Santa’s essential status was coming.

On Wednesday, Toronto city council will table a motion from councillor Paul Fletcher and seconded by mayor John Tory that will give Santa the green light to work Christmas Eve.

As the big man told 680News in an interview he his taking safety precautions this holiday season.

“All the elves are wearing masks,” said Santa. “I’m safe, we keep our social distancing.”

Toronto council will then call on the province to make it official. Making Santa an essential worker.

Santa has already been designated an essential worker in Ireland, Belgium and Australia.
