Ontario reports 9 new COVID-19 deaths, daily cases just above 1,000

Ontario says nine more people have died as a result of COVID-19 with new cases just above 1,000.
The number of people who have died from the virus in the province now sits at 6,893.
Provincial health officials reported 1,054 new cases on Wednesday, a rise from 975 cases the day before.
Most of the new infections are in Toronto (363), followed by Peel Region (186), and York Region (94).
According to provincial data, 675 people are being treated in hospital and 287 of those patients are in intensive care.
The province also said 54,852 people were tested on Tuesday and 17,141 additional doses of the vaccine were administered.
