Emergency crews were called to the scene just before 1 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the OPP, an excavator in a construction zone struck an overhead road sign near the Eastport Drive exit, causing it to collapse and fall onto the roadway striking a passing vehicle.

The section of highway is expected to be closed from Nikola Tesla to Eastport until about 10 a.m.
